The French Baccalaureate

The Baccalaureat is the French national secondary school diploma, administered by the Ministry of National Education. It is recognized worldwide as a rigorous pre-university qualification and is accepted by universities across Europe, North America, and beyond.

At Académie Internationale Saint-Lumière, students follow the French national curriculum from Sixieme (Year 7, age 11) through to Terminale (Year 13, age 18), culminating in the Baccalaureate examination at the end of Terminale.

French Language Integration Programme

Students who join Académie Internationale Saint-Lumière with limited or no French receive dedicated language support through our French Language Integration Programme (FLI). This intensive programme runs alongside the regular curriculum and typically lasts one to two years, depending on the student's starting level and progress.

FLI students receive additional hours of French language instruction each week, adapted coursework in content subjects, and regular one-to-one tutoring. The goal is for students to transition fully into mainstream French-medium classes as quickly as possible.
